In many of the small towns you see the downtown area with empty buildings, the repairs not being done and the businesses that had thrived in the town for years closing down.  Not in our town.  The downtown area is in good condition, there is only one empty business right now and that probably won't last long.

The Main Street program has made a great impact on the community.  With the grants they have arranged and the constant attention driven to the downtown area businesses seem to be thriving.  Now, there are a number of restaurants, but the variety is pretty good so that's a plus.  There is not a men's store, but there is a women's store, hardware store that has nearly anything you could want, the variety of other shops is pretty good too, for a small town.

Wal-Mart came into town a few years ago and it was rather frightening for the businessmen.  Would Wal-Mart take their business away?  Would they be able to survive?  It seems that they can and are.  Although Wal-Mart does a lot of business, so do the shops downtown.  Hats off to the businesses that make the downtown area a pleasant place to go.
